The short version.
Since 2019 I've been building and running cloud systems other people depend on, end to end. The backend services, and the interfaces the teams using them sit in all day — the kind of software that only gets noticed when it breaks. My job is to make sure it doesn't.
This past year a lot of that has been applied AI, in two directions: summarization pipelines running against real customer conversations, and an agent harness that carried 56 screens of UI migration I'd otherwise still be doing by hand. Same job as always, really — make it reliable, keep it cheap, don't break the thing people are already using.
I care about the boring parts done well. Clear APIs. Automation that does the obvious thing. Migrations that don't page anyone at 3am.
What I'm good at
- Putting LLMs into systems that already have users
- Backend APIs and services built to scale
- React front ends on top of them, migrations included
- Event-driven automation on AWS
- Tracking down performance and stability problems
- Moving legacy systems forward without the downtime
How I work
- Ship first, then make it better
- Own it end to end, from design to rollout
- Say the tradeoffs out loud
- Safe beats clever
- Bring juniors along instead of shipping around them
Currently
Working remotely at Washmen on internal platforms, applied AI, and cloud automation. On the side I'm building Simmra, a recipe app of my own.
